Come Light the Menorah!

Members and friends of the Holyoke Jewish community gathered in front of City Hall to celebrate Chanukah and light the first candle of the Holyoke Menorah, now a tradition in its third year. The crowd was welcomed by Mayor Alex Morse; Joan Rosner, president of Congregation Sons of Zion; Lou Silver, president of Congregation Rodphey Sholom; Charlie Epstein, who donated the Menorah three years ago and is vice president of the Jewish Federation of Western Mass; Stewart Bromberg, CEO of Jewish Federation of Western Mass; and SOZ’s Rabbi Saul Perlmutter. Shown above, Cindy Vieu, vice president of Sons of Zion, and Rabbi Perlmutter led the blessings as the candles were lit, followed by holiday treats from Holyoke Hummus Company inside City Hall.
