Kindness…Pass It On

Zalman Kimball, Hillel Kofsky and Zalman Yaffe work together to create slime.

LONGMEADOW – Acts of kindness were spread through the hallways of Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy (LYA) on Dec. 25, as parents, staff, students and guests participated in 11 Points of Kindness Day. LYA chose this theme in memory of the 11 victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh who lost their lives. The children made bookmarks for themselves and a friend to encourage reading. Students worked on sportsmanship in the gym through sports games. As a science activity the children created slime, then decorated Jewish star cookies to enjoy themselves and to give to a friend outside school. In the drama room children acted out A Thread of Kindness, a story illustrating how it is simple it is to spread the thread of kindness. Adults were in on the acts of kindness too – two special classes were taught by Rabbi Noach Kosofsky and Esther Kosofsky.

CAP: Shternie Cohen planned to give her decorated star cookie to a family member she saw during vacation.
