Gertrude Tankanow, 91, a longtime resident of Worcester, died Feb. 7 in the Jewish Healthcare Center. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Tankanow. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Abraham and Anna (Lichter) Katz. She was sales associate for Jordan Marsh for many years. She was an active volunteer. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, Pioneer Women and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish Healthcare Center. She is survived by two sons, Larry Tankanow and his wife, Roberta, of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Steven Tankanow and his wife, Ana Flor, of Worcester; a daughter, Sherri Slater and her husband, William, of Plympton; five grandchildren, Adam, Eric, Lisa, Alyse and Andrew; and eight great-grandchildren, Alana, Eliot, Max, Lauren, Alexandra, Henry, Justin and Ella. She was predeceased by two sisters, Esther Coppersmith and Edith Solomon.
