Ruth’s House to Host Series on “Living with Alzheimer’s”

LONGMEADOW — Ruth’s House, an Assisted Living Residence at JGS Lifecare,  has joined with the Alzheimer’s Association to host “Living with Alzheimer’s”  Wednesdays April 17 and April 24 at 6 Ruth’s House Assisted Living Residence, 780 Converse St. to hear caregivers and professionals discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care in the early, middle and late stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Heather Jagodowski, CPD, the Western Massachusetts program coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association, will lead the discussion and answer questions and concerns.

In the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease, families face new questions as they adjust. What does the diagnosis mean? What kinds of plans need to be made? What resources are available to help? Join us on April 10th to hear from those directly affected and learn what you can do to cope with the changes that come with an early-stage diagnosis.

In the middle stage Alzheimer’s disease, those who were care partners now become hands-on caregivers. Join us on April 17th to discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s.

In the late stage of Alzheimer’s disease, caregiving typically involves new ways of connecting and interacting with the person with the disease. Join us on April 24th to hear about resources, monitoring care and providing meaningful connection for the person with late-stage Alzheimer’s and their families.

“A diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease can be devastating and confusing to a family. We hope that members of the community will come and join the discussion and learn about the progression of the disease and the community resources that exist to provide answers and support,” said Darlene Frances, Executive Director of Ruth’s House Assisted Living Residence at JGS Lifecare.

This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Tours of independent and memory care neighborhoods will be available. Guests are encouraged to RSVP by calling Ruth’s House at (413) 567-6212 or email For more information, visit
