SPRINGFIELD — Rachel’s Table will present “Bountiful Bowls” its biennial fundraiser on Wednesday, May 22, 6:30 p.m., at Sinai Temple.

Judy Yaffe will be honored at Bountiful Bowls.

“It is really one of the major fundraisers for Rachel’s Table. It’s been a wonderful way to honor our amazing volunteers, like Judy Yaffe, who we are honoring this year,” said Jodi Falk, director of Rachel’s Table. “Judy has been on our board for a long time. She has been on the advisory board and has helped us in so many ways.”

This year Rachel’s Table will also honor its longstanding partnership with WWLP-22 News, giving special recognition to news anchors Brenda Garton-Sjoberg and Barry Kriger.

“Its exciting that Channel 22 has been our corporate sponsor almost since the beginning,” Falk said. “They have been really gracious about giving us air space so that we can be known and have more agencies and food donors contact us so we can do our work. They have been a really important partner in our development.”

Also honored will be Rebecca Baranovski, a former member of Rachel’s Table’s Teen Board, who designed Rachel’s Table’s new logo as well as the invitation for the Bountiful Bowls event.

“Bountiful Bowls is a great way to bring the community together to talk about what we are doing, and it’s a beautiful, elegant and lovely evening of celebrating who we are and how far we have come,” Falk said.

Each attendee at the event will receive a special bowl created by students at Suffield Academy.

“Students and staff and staff children from Suffield Academy spend two days lovingly making these bowls for us because they want to give something to the cause,” Falk said. “Its all of these people joining in this project of making bowls so that we can give them as gifts to people who come to Bountiful Bowls. They symbolize bowls that are empty and may someday be filled.”

Purchasing a 2019 raffle ticket for the event will help to support Rachel’s Table’s important mission of reducing food waste and alleviating hunger. The price of a raffle ticket is  $100, and the prizes include deluxe items such as Red Sox tickets, a golfing day with lunch, free massages for a year, and up to two weeks on an island off the coast of Florida.

If you’d like to buy a ticket for the event or the raffle, please call (413) 372-9755 or stop in at the Jewish Federation office at 1160 Dickinson St. Your ticket will go directly towards feeding people.

The winners will be announced at Bountiful Bowls on May 22, but one does not  have to be present to win. For reservations, call (413) 372-9755. Reservations must be taken with a credit card by staff.
