Howard Lockwood, 96, of Worcester, died April 28. He was the husband of Thelma Lockwood. A lifelong Worcester resident, he was the son of Frances (Davidson) Lockwood and Simon Lockwood. He was educated in the Worcester Public Schools, graduating from the former Classical High School. He received a B.S. in Physics from M.I.T. after serving 22 months in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his graduation, he worked as a physicist until changing careers when he passed the CPA exams and spent his adult life as an accountant. He was active in community affairs in addition to his lifelong commitment to the Worcester Jewish community. He was a member of Temple Emanuel where he was elected a lifetime member of the Board of Directors. This commitment continued to Temple Emanuel Sinai. He was an active representative for Israel Bonds and served for several years as president of the Worcester District of the Zionist Organization of America. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Gay Lockwood, Marsha Cramer and her husband, Michael, and Susan Lockwood; his grandchildren, Melanie Cramer, and Matthew Cramer and his wife, Kaylee; and his great-grandchildren, April Cryan and Logan Cramer. He was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Lockwood Simpson and Joan Lockwood Watnick.
