Charles “Charlie” Katz of Longmeadow died Oct. 11. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Stein Katz. Born on May 10, 1932 in Springfield, he was the son of Harry and Ada Katz. He grew up in Springfield attended local public schools until going to the former Bordentown, N.J. Military Academy for High School. He graduated from AIC with a business degree. He went to work the family business, State Line Potato Chips. He remained there until branching out with his partner Bob LaBrie in Country Corn Snack Products. He then went into sales at Zep Manufacturing, where he spent 31 years. He was active for many years in Boy Scouts. He was also a Master Mason of the A.F.& A.F. Masons, the Esoteroric-Sherwood Lodge in Springfield. He is survived by a daughter, Helen; a son, Robert and his wife, Patricia; three nieces Debbie Stein, Jamie Stein-Muzio (Carl) and Ricki Stein-Bernhard (Randy); three great-nephews, Marco Muzio, and Alex and Max Bernhard; and many cousins. Memorial contributions be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
