Bennett “Bud” August, 83, of East Longmeadow, died Dec. 2 at Baystate Medical Center. He was the husband of Judith (Goldstein) August. The son of the late Raymond August and Minnette Swirsky, he was a graduate of Classical High School’s Class of 1953. He was a pharmacist for many years. After retiring as a pharmacist, he became active in Native American work and was a member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Association, where he was also on the board of directors and a past vice-president. He sold Native American pottery and jewelry with his business, Southwest Indian Arts and Crafts. He was also involved at the Springfield Jewish Community Center with the Green Theme Team, whose goal was to help work on the environment. In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by four children, Mitchell (Margaret Philips) August of Worcester, Richard August of Staatsburg, N.Y., Neil August of Beaverton, Ore., and Jill (Nicholas) Carra of Feeding Hills; six grandchildren, Sydney and Madison Carra, Hannah and Hallie August, and Aaron (Kerry) August and Kayla (Zachary) August Marren; and  two great- grandchildren, Grant and Isabelle “Izzy” Marren.
