Morton (Pat) Barr of Spingfield died Dec. 4 at home. He was the husband of Syvia (Bergman) Barr. Born in Springfield on Feb. 28, 1928, he was the son of the late Dora (Rosnick) Barr and Joseph Barr. He served his country proudly during World War II as a Fireman Second Class, US Navy on the USS Roosevelt and USS Midway. He worked for Barr Oil Company and was a founding brother of Republic Oil Corporation, which ultimately became one of the largest distributors of petroleum products in Western Massachusetts before retiring in 1988. In addition to his wife of 69 years, he is survived by two daughters, Dianne Snieder and Jayne Berman and her husband, Geoffrey; two sisters, Helen Barr and Naomi Knight; a brother, Arnold (Rita) Barr; four grandchildren, Samantha Snieder, Bari (Anthony) DeMichele, Lee (Nicole) Berman and David Berman; and four great- grandchildren, William, Benjamin, and Ella DeMichele and Sunny Berman. He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen.
