Sheila Ruth (Levy) Simon, 92, died at home Feb. 19. She was the wife of Robert Simon. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Leah Levy. She grew up in the Bronx. In 1948, she earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University’s School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance and became a Certified Public Accountant, one of very few women in her graduating class and her chosen field. She continued to work as a CPA until becoming a mother and turning her attention to raising a family. She was a long-time member of Sinai Temple in Springfield. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children and their spouses, Burt Simon (Minh), Stewart Simon (Leslie), Diana Simon Benoit (Philippe), and Alice Simon Ericson (Tracy); 13 grandchildren, Chau (Kevin), Tran (John), Tien, Rachel, Laura, Claire, Natalie, Valerie, Rebecca, AJ, Julie, Kevin and Olivia; one great-grandson, Adrien; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Levy; a nephew; and several nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, David Levy; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Selma Simon; and a nephew, Steven Simon.
