Gunther Fischel of Agawam died May 3. He was the husband of Thais Fischel. Born in Elberfeld, Germany on July 11, 1928, he was the son of the late J.J. and Martha Fischel. He graduated from CCNY with a BA in merchandising and a master’s degree. He served in the New York National Guard for eight years. He was a merchandise manager at Forbes & Wallace and then at Ames Department Stores. He served on the Sinai Temple board, executive board, and several committees. At the Jewish Nursing Home, he and his wife presented a Tuesday morning musical program for 13 years. He read weekly on closed circuit radio for the print impaired. In addition to his wife of 70 years he is survived by twoa nephews, Dr. Steven Fischel (Dr. Lisa Plantefabor), and Richard Fischel; a grandnephew, Henning Fischel; and a grandniece, Hillary, of Arizona. He was  predeceased by his brother, Walter.
