Peskins set to strengthen bond between Southern New England and Israel through new JNF chapter

WESTERN MASS. – A new chapter of Jewish National Fund-USA, (JNF) has been formed in Southern New England, headed by David Peskin of Longmeadow.

“As Southern New Englanders, we share a lot in common with the communities JNF supports in the North and South of Israel,” said Peskin, who has been appointed president of the new chapter. “Up until now, JNF’s New England reach has mostly been focused on the Boston area and the Capital District of New York. Now it’s our turn to become involved and I’m privileged to have been asked to serve as the leader for our area and pledge to work hard as we build awareness about JNF’s amazing work.”

JNF is the leading philanthropic organization for Israel supporting critical environmental and nation-building activities in Israel’s north and south. Through its “One Billion Dollar Roadmap for the Next Decade,” JNF is building housing sites in Israel’s north and south, providing fire trucks and stations, planting trees, creating employment opportunities, developing water infrastructure, and delivering ongoing therapeutic, emotional and psychological assistance. In addition, JNF is boosting tourism, building medical centers, preserving heritage sites, supporting people with special needs, and funding groundbreaking research centers.

Peskin’s deep passion for Israel is fulfilled through his work with JNF, where together with his wife and fellow JNF Southern New England Committee Member, Deborah Peskin, they are proud to help JNF achieve its “One Billion Dollar Roadmap for the Next Decade” initiative. Debbie Peskin is also a member of JNF’s Chai Society, an essential part of the women’s campaign.

“People from throughout North America have been inspired by JNF since its founding in 1901,” David Peskin said. “My wife Debbie and I, along with our committee members, are excited to have an opportunity to share JNF’s incredible story with our community. We know that the more people learn about JNF’s pioneering work, the more they will be drawn to this visionary organization.”

“If a vibrant Israel, complete with a healthy environment and a comfortable place for all to live is important to you, then JNF is an outlet where you can live and breathe Israel,” said Debbie Peskin. “By supporting JNF, you are shaping Israel’s future and changing the narrative.”

“We are delighted that David has joined our JNF lay leadership team” said Sara Hefez, JNF’s executive director of New England and the Capital District. “David’s vision, coupled with his energy and enthusiasm, is nothing short of inspiring. I know he will do an outstanding job as he shares his love and passion for Israel with the local community.”

Dar Nadler, JNF’s Israel emissary to the region, added, “Southern New England is blessed with a committed group of Zionists. I’m privileged to work with them, and Israel is lucky to have their support.”

Local community members in Southern New England who are interested in learning more about supporting JNF’s unique mission and/or joining the local committee should contact Dar Nadler at dnadler@jnf.org or (617) 423-0999, ext. 816.
