Mildred Goldsmith, 95, of Springfield, died May 14. She was the widow of Norman Cooper and Hyman Goldsmith. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of Jennie and Max Bloom. She spent several years employed at Buxton Leather in Chicopee, and spent much of her free time doing volunteer work with the Mended Hearts Association, helping those with Amblyopia. For many years she taught computer classes at the Springfield Jewish Community Center. She is survived by a son, Ronald Cooper of Groveland, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Carol Galinsky and her husband, Carl of Glastonbury, Conn.; a stepson, Craig Goldsmith and his wife, Debbie of Worcester; five grandchildren, Eric Cooper of Los Angeles, Calif., David Cooper of Worcester, Robert Goldsmith and his wife Lindsay of Fort Collins, Colo., Joanne Fontana and her husband, Mike of Glastonbury, Conn., and Karen Lesh and husband Brad of Cheshire, Conn; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Betsy Cooper. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norman Cooper Camp Fund in care of Springfield Jewish Community Center, 1160 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA 01108; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
