Joseph Kaufman of Longmeadow died Aug. 9 in the company of his loved ones. He was the widower of Hillary (Bond) Kaufman. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Jerome and Beatrice (Chernaik) Kaufman. After attending Classical High School and American International College, he joined his father and brother, Bruce Kaufman, at Pinecrest Produce of Springfield, later moving the family business to Hartford, Conn. After a career in the produce industry, he spent a number of years in the food packaging business. He was an active member of the Jewish Community Center of Springfield. He is survived by two children, Jay Kaufman of Arlington, Va., and Kori Kaufman of Newton; a brother, Bruce Kaufman of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his partner, Mary Eyres, of Longmeadow and her family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
