National Bar/Bat Mitzvah Expert To Speak In Holyoke

HOLYOKE – Emily Haft Bloom, author of “The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Planner,” will be the featured speaker at the Log Cabin’s 2011 Modern Bar/Bat Mitzvahs event on Sunday, Jan. 30. Nationally recognized as an expert in planning events that balance the spiritual aspects of bar and bat mitzvahs with the fun teenagers look for, Ms. Bloom also will sign copies of her book. The event also will feature food, sample party themes, and the opportunity to meet local vendors. All proceeds from the event will benefit Rachel’s Table, a Springfield organization dedicated to providing food to the hungry.
Tickets for Modern Bar/Bat Mitzvahs are $18. Each ticket admits a family of up to four people. Each ticket buyer will receive a copy of Emily Haft Bloom’s “The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Planner,” a definitive guide for creating memorable celebrations,
Emily Haft Bloom is the author of  three books including “The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Planner” and “The Good Jewish Home.” She has written for such publications as Parents Magazine and Family Circle and has appeared on the Today Show. “The Bar/Bat Mitzvah Planner” organizes event planning into manageable steps and offers tons of great ideas that will please parents, kids and rabbis.
Rachel’s Table, a project of the Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts, distributes food to 43 local soup kitchen, food pantries and shelters in the Greater Springfield area.
