JFS to Open a New Office at Springfield JCC

SPRINGFIELD – Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts has signed a lease with the Springfield Jewish Community Center to open an office at the former Hatikvah Center location.  The office will open with limited staff hours starting in early spring; a grand opening celebration is planned for later in the year. Initially this office will have a part-time social worker and professional staff to provide information and resources. The JFS Living with Loss and Caregiver Support groups will take place at this location.
This site gives JFS an opportunity to expand and design programs based on the agency’s BOLD VISIONS Initiative and subsequent campaign.  Over time JFS will develop and offer new, responsive programs that are relevant to contemporary and evolving Jewish life. The location also offers possibilities for natural collaborations and synergy with other Jewish institutions.
In 2008 JFS began the BOLD VISIONS strategic planning process with the support of more than 50 community volunteer leaders. The absolute and central focus of the JFS BOLD VISION is providing programs and services to meet the challenges facing contemporary Jewish families.  In the planning process it became clear that an equally responsive physical environment for these activities is needed.  The new office at the JCC provides an accessible and convenient central location. JFS’ Lenox Street office will remain an important site for many existing programs and administrative functions.
“We are excited to have a location on the Jewish campus that will offer opportunities for collaboration and the development of new, responsive programs that assist families through life’s transitions in addition to addressing the needs of the Jewish community,” stated Robert Marmor, executive director. “Working with campaign co-chairs Daniel Plotkin and Steven Korn and the campaign cabinet is fantastic, they are a dynamic group, committed to strengthening our Jewish community.”
“We are delighted to have Jewish Family Service join the JCC and community campus.  We look forward to many exciting collaborative ventures together,” stated Michael Paysnick, executive director of the Springfield Jewish Community Center.
