SPRINGFIELD – The Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts and Jewish Endowment Foundation of Western Massachusetts will hold their Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Jewish Geriatric Services, 770 Converse St., Longmeadow.
The keynote speaker will be Gary McGuey, a consultant for Franklin Covey, an organization that is a leader in personal effectiveness, management and education. He has been training and mentoring three area Jewish schools, Heritage Academy, LYA, and the Springfield JCC Early Childhood Development Program, on The Leader in Me program for the last year.
The Leader in Me is an innovative model for schools to emphasize a culture of student empowerment, and helps unleash each child’s full potential, based on Steven Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Gary McGuey will explain how the proven leadership techniques of “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” can be applied to one’s personal life and community, and will focus on the role of Federation at this precipitous time in history.
In addition, Robert Singer, director general and CEO of World ORT, will provide an update on the achievements and challenges facing his organization, which is one of the Federation’s overseas partners. World ORT is the world’s largest Jewish education and vocational non-governmental organization, serving more than 300,000 students.
During the meeting, the election of Officers, Trustees, and Board members of the Federation and Endowment Foundation will be held. Attendees will enjoy a make-your-own sundae bar following the program.
