WESTERN MASS. – Jewish Family Service has announced its offering of community programs for the new year.
Through JFS Eldercare Solutions, JFS offers caregiver support groups, geriatric care management and comprehensive resources for elders or their caregivers in addition to our elder guardianship and conservatorship services. The Longmeadow/Springfield Caregiver Support Group meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the JFS office, 1160 Dickinson St. in Springfield.
The Northampton Caregiver Support Group meets on Tuesdays, 10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at 253 Prospect St. in Northampton.

Jewish Family Jam is one of the Upper Valley’s most popular programs. The Jam is ideal for infants and toddlers up to age 3, and their caregivers. The class, taught by Felicia Sloin, meets on Wednesdays, 10:30-11:45 a.m. through June at Lander Grinspoon Academy, 256 Prospect St., Northampton. Pre-registration is recommended, $25 registration fee.
Living With Loss, a bereavement support group, is open to anyone who has lost a loved one. This group will start later in the year with Donna Gordon, MSW, LICSW, Clinical Director.
JFS has also developed the Jewish Safety Net Triad:
• Domestic Violence is a Jewish issue. JFS offers resources, referrals, individual and
family support, safety planning and legal advocacy. Contact JFS at (413) 737-2601 or
the Shalom Task Force at 888-883-2323.
• The Urgent Economic Response Program offers individuals and families support,
counseling and resources, especially when times are tough. Partial funding is
provided through the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Western Massachusetts.
• ESSEN-tials, is a kosher food program for those who observe Jewish dietary laws. Kosher food is distributed regularly throughout the year. This program is co-sponsored by
