Edwin R. Merrill, 95, of Longmeadow, died July 25 at home. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Shirley (Goldberg) Merrill. Born in the Bronx, he was a graduate of DeWitt Clinton High School and earned a BA from the Pratt Institute. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Following his discharge, he worked for several furniture designers in New York before moving to Springfield where he was an interior designer for over 35 years, for both Forbes & Wallace and G. Fox. He was a past member of the American Society of Interior Decorators, and served on their Board of Governors in Connecticut. He was active at Sinai Temple, where he was a past recipient of the Rabbi Herman E. Snyder award and served on the Board of Directors, the House Committee and the Temple Brotherhood. He was a Past Commander of the Jewish War Veterans Post 26 in Springfield. He is survived by two sons, Richard, of Suffield, Conn., and Robert and his wife, Cindy, of Wilbraham; and four  grandchildren, Andrea, Alex, Marc and Max.
