“Confronting Hunger” in Northampton

NORTHAMPTON – The Congregation B’nai Israel TIkkun Olam Committee and the Beit Ahavah Tzedek Tzedek Committee will sponsor “Confronting Hunger”, a program featuring the film “A Place At the Table: One Nation Underfed” and a talk-back session on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m.  at Congregation B’nai Israel, Social Hall, 253 Prospect St.

A Place at the Table, a film about hunger in America features Massachusetts Congressman, Jim McGovern, and his efforts to bring the issue of food injustice to the attention of Congress and the nation.

Local experts will be featured in a talk-back session.

They include Heidi Nortonsmith, executive director of the Northampton Survival Center;  Andrew Morehouse, executive director of the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts; and Rabbi Jacob Fine, director of Jewish Life at Congregation B’nai Israel.

The event is FREE with suggested donation of a non-perishable food item for donation to Northampton Survival Center.
