LONGMEADOW – Elections were recently held at Heritage Academy. The entire student body voted to elect seven class representatives and a student council president. The students, kindergarten through eighth graders, were treated to an explanation of the voting process by a “government expert,” middle school history teacher Chris Heath, and came away with the knowledge that every vote counts. In the end when the last votes from each grade level “precinct” were tallied, the winners were: from grade five, Ilana Rapaport and Aylee Weiss; from grade six Leah Gorfinkel and Gil Markman; from grade seven Gillian Weissman and Sydney Maniaci; and from grade eight Aaron Goldman. The student council president-elect is Kayla Weiss of grade seven, who said, “The goal for student council this year is to make sure all the students enjoy the activities we plan. I’m looking forward to a great year!”
