SPRINGFIELD – Temple Beth El Sisterhood is sponsoring a Torah Fund Luncheon on Wednesday, May 14 at noon in the synagogue’s Social Hall.
The guest speaker will be Alyse Lichtenstein, who will discuss “Redeeming Relationships.” Lichtenstein is a recent graduate of Boston University’s School of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences. During the summer of 2012, she traveled with other second and third generation survivors to Berlin to participate in a program entitled “One by One,” which brings together, in dialogue, the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors with the families of perpetrators. Alyse’s grandmother has been the inspiration for her investigation and research. There will be a slide presentation accompanying the talk.
The Torah Fund supports and provides scholarships to the following institutions: The Jewish Theological Seminary (New York); Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies (Los Angeles); and Shechter Institute of Rabbinic Studies (Jerusalem).
There is no charge for lunch; however, there is a minimum donation of $18 requested to support the Jewish Theological Seminary. Multiples of chai will also be accepted, and the cost for Patrons is $180. Both men and women are welcome to attend the Torah Luncheon.
Please send donations to Temple Beth El Sisterhood, 979 Dickinson Street, Springfield, MA 01108. R.S.V.P. on or before Wednesday, May 7 to Nancy Cole at (413) 567-8888 or Charlotte Meyer at email@example.com.
