LONGMEADOW – Heritage Academy has named Michal Morris Kamil its new Head of School. She will succeed Lauren Life, who will leave Heritage at the end of the school year.
Kamil has served as director of education of a large synagogue school in London, England and also trained teachers and youth leaders in the International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel, and at the UK’s Holocaust Education Trust. Most recently, she brought to fruition a major initiative in Israel education as director of the Jewish Learning Works’ BASIS Israel Education Initiative in the San Francisco Bay Area. As director, she helped 11 Jewish day schools create strategies for capacity building, and led a team of international experts that supported the schools in curriculum development.
Kamil has professional experience in major community and organizational fundraising and resource development campaigns, as well as in grant management. As a volunteer, she has been involved in developing the Limmud (a Jewish learning festival) in the Bay Area, and she has taught English as a second language to immigrants and at-risk youth in Israel.
Born and bred in Jerusalem, she holds an MBA in Education Leadership from Hull University Business School, specializing in Jewish educational organizations.
