BOSTON – “A Tribute to Excellence,” celebrating Hillel at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m. at The University of Massachusetts Club in Boston.
Honorees of the event, which will support Jewish life at UMass Amherst, will be Pamela M. Jacobs and Robert D. Jacobs.
The Jacobs met at UMass in the late 1960s. Pamela earned a degree in English and graduated in 1969. Robert graduated in 1968 and is an attorney at Rock Creek Partners in Washington, DC.
The Jacobs endowed the UMass Center for Jewish Studies, the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide and Memory Studies and the Pamela and Robert Jacobs Distinguished Lecture Series in Jewish Life and Culture. She has served on the UMass Amherst Foundation since 2003.
The keynote speaker for the evening will be James A. Young, Prof. of English and Judaic and Near Eastern Studies and director of the Institute for Holocaust, Genocide, and Memory Studies.
