Tilia Klebenov Jacobs to discuss Jewish Heroines Then and Now at TES

WORCESTER – Tilia Klebenov Jacobs, an award-winning local author, will speak during Shabbat evening services on Friday, March 18 at 7:30 P.M., at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury St.

Jacobs uses fiction to create Jewish characters and explore Jewish themes. Her first book, Wrong Place, Wrong Time, won the Beverly Hills Book Award for Best Thriller. Tilia explains, “I wrote Wrong Place, Wrong Time partly because I wanted to create a Jewish woman as the main character in a thriller. And I wanted her to be a smart, funny, tough Jewish woman who might conceivably live next door to me.”
Her newest book, Second Helpings at the Serve You Right Café, has garnered extraordinary critical acclaim: it was ranked in the top 10% of the Amazon Kindle store by reader reviews, and was spotlighted in IndieReader’s “Best of Summer Reads.” Kirkus featured it in Kirkus Reviews, and most recently it won Honorable Mention in the London Book Festival. “Much of the wisdom of the book comes from two elderly Jewish characters,” says Tilia. “I’m proud of that.” When she speaks, she will explore her own fictional Jewish heroines and then discuss Esther, the heroine of our Purim Story.
