WESTBOROUGH – Shir Joy Chorus begins its spring season with open rehearsals on Sun., Jan. 28 and Feb. 4th from 7-9:15 p.m. The chorus is seeking new singers, especially basses, although all parts are welcome.
Shir Joy Chorus is an adult community chorus, dedicated to learning, sharing, and performing Jewish music from the rich and varied Judaic cultures of Israel and the Jewish Diaspora. The Chorus performs music in English, Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, and other languages, the pronunciation of which is taught during rehearsals, so no prior knowledge is needed. The chorus is non-auditioned and is open to all people regardless of ethnicity or religious background.
The open rehearsals will include a meet and greet, section placement, and registration. The director, Nan Gibbons, as well as members of the board will be available to chat and answer questions.
Regular rehearsals are usually held on Sunday evenings at Congregation B’nai Shalom, 117 E. Main St., in Westborough.
Shir Joy’s winter concert will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. at B’nai Shalom. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors, $5 for children under 18, with a family cap of $40. For more information, visit www.shirjoychorus.com, email ShirJoyMA@gmail.com; or call (508) 366-7175.
