LONGMEADOW — JGS Lifecare is asking community members to volunteer two hours of their time on Dec. 25 at Leavitt Family Jewish Home, Sosin Center for Rehabilitation and/or Ruth’s House Assisted Living Residence as part of “Honorable Menschen Day,” a longstanding holiday tradition.
Volunteers, in two-hour shifts, provide support in non-clinical and personal care roles to residents and assist staff on the holiday.
There are opportunities available for people of all ages. Volunteers can share their special talent with residents (i.e. singing, musical instruments, dancing) or just share friendship.
Volunteer activities include resident visits, sharing your musical talent, leading trivia/work games/board games, offering manicures, assisting residents in bingo, assisting housekeeping staff folding laundry, transporting residents to activities, bringing refreshment carts to residents and more.
If you are interested in volunteering, call Cheryl Gumlaw, director of Life Enrichment at the Leavitt Family Jewish Home at (413) 567-3949, ext. 1211, or by email: cgumlaw@JGSLifecare; or Andrea Bates, director of Life Enrichment at Ruth’s House Assisted Living Residence at (413) 567-3949, ext. 3121 or by email: abates@JGSLifecare.org.
